LOVE Friday

Freedom. Hope. Love.

With words like that you would think that “Once upon a time” would come next. What beautiful words, yet for most of us, those words seem out of our reach? Those words can’t possible exist.

Freedom. Hope. Love.

Do you ever feel like you are in a land far from home where your life is only worth what service you could provide? Do you ever feel like you have no hope? Do you become numb just to get through the day?

So what does this have to do with Good Friday?

Well around here we like to call Good Friday, LOVE Friday. On that day, Jesus stood in your place, in our place to die for us. It was His death that made it possible to set us FREE from the slavery we are in. He brought HOPE of a better life; Hope of a life where we are more than objects, where we are treasured, where we are LOVED for who we are not what we do or don’t do. We can truly feel again because His love changes us. We are safe and at home.

It sounds too good to be true, but perhaps it is too good not to be true?

Jesus died so that the unlovable could be lovable. Jesus died so that the used and abused could be loved and cherished. Jesus died so that the filthy could be made clean. Jesus died so that the condemned and enslaved could be commended and set free. Jesus died to bring hope to the hopeless.

Why is the death of Jesus Good News? Why is the death of the perfect Son of God called LOVE Friday?

It is good because He did it for us. It is good because Sunday morning He rose from the dead leaving behind all the sin, death, and corruption. His victory is our FREEDOM, HOPE, and LOVE.

What should have been the worst day in history became the best day in history.

Good Friday. Freedom. Hope. Love.

Jesus didn’t just say “love,” he showed His love by dying so that we could truly have freedom, hope, and love.

Freedom. Hope. Love.

Now, that really is good news. That is LOVE Friday.

This brief piece came as the result of my involvement with a ministry called Jesus Said Love. Once a month JSL Dallas goes into 2 strip clubs to minister to the girls, give gifts, listen, build relationship, and ultimately help girls who want to get out of the industry to do so. This brief piece will be given to the girls on Good Friday to help explain what Good Friday is and why we call it LOVE Friday.

Jesus Said Love shares the REVOLUTIONARY love of Christ toward many whom our society disregards. Targeting people groups to whom the church has not reached out because of ignorance or negligence, we express the LOVE of Jesus in practical ways.
